South Florida doesn’t exactly lack heat, so “sauna” isn’t the first thing most Coral Springs residents think of for wellness. But the infrared sauna at Hopson Health is a different experience from the steamy box at the gym – and it’s one of the most relaxing 30 minutes in our building.
Infrared vs. traditional
A traditional sauna heats the air to 170–190°F and the air heats you. An infrared sauna uses light in the infrared spectrum to warm your body directly, while the cabin air stays a much more comfortable 120–140°F. The result:
- You can stay in longer without feeling like you can’t breathe
- A deep, penetrating warmth in the muscles rather than surface heat
- A heavy sweat at a lower temperature
- Easy to combine with reading, music or simply sitting still
What our members use it for
- Muscle relaxation after training or a long week
- Stress relief – it’s the most common “rest-day” service in the Recovery Club
- Skin – the sweat and increased circulation leave many people with a noticeable post-sauna glow
- Sleep – an evening session followed by a cool shower is a favorite wind-down routine
- Contrast therapy – sauna then cryotherapy (or the reverse) for the hot/cold effect athletes love
A note on safety
Drink water before and after. If you’re pregnant, have a heart condition, or are sensitive to heat, check with your doctor and let our staff know – we’ll shorten the session or suggest another Core service. We’ll also ask you to sign our short infrared sauna consent form on your first visit.
Included in the Recovery Club
The infrared sauna is a Core Recovery service, so Recovery Club members ($149/month) can use it as often as they like – up to three Core services per day. Try it once for $30, or grab a $99 Core Recovery 5-Pack.
