Walk into the recovery lounge at Hopson Health on any weekday evening and you’ll see the same scene: a row of leather recliners, people zipped into Normatec compression boots up to the hip, and a lot of very relaxed faces. Compression therapy is the quiet workhorse of our Core Recovery lineup. Here’s why.
What compression boots do
Normatec boots inflate in sequential chambers from the feet upward, then release, in a rhythm that mimics – and amplifies – the muscle pump your legs use to move blood and lymphatic fluid back toward the heart. Think of it as a mechanical massage designed specifically for flushing tired legs.
Clients use it for:
- Post-run and post-leg-day recovery (a favorite among local runners and cyclists training on the Sawgrass and A1A routes)
- Swelling and heaviness after long days on their feet – nurses, teachers, warehouse and hospitality workers
- Travel recovery after flights out of Fort Lauderdale
- Warm-up before a game or tournament
A session in the lounge
You’ll settle into a recliner, a team member zips you into the boots and sets the pressure level (there are several – beginners start low), and the cycle runs for about 30 minutes. Bring a book, catch up on messages, or close your eyes. Many members schedule compression right after cryotherapy: the cold first, then the boots to move everything through.
Tips from our staff
- Hydrate before and after – the boots move fluid, and water helps.
- Wear thin leggings or shorts; the boots go over clothing.
- Don’t max out the pressure on day one. Firm-but-comfortable is the goal.
- Consistency beats intensity: 2–3 sessions a week is where members notice the difference.
Included in the Recovery Club
Compression boots are a Core Recovery service. Recovery Club members ($149/month) can use them every visit – up to three Core services per day, unlimited days. Not a member? A single Core service is $30 and the Core Recovery 5-Pack is $99.
